CANADA Week 48-June 26, 2018

Mon frere elder Brough.

Salut les gars!!

Another wild week haha. This was a week of growth and love for me, as I spent time learning from other missionaries. They definitely had a lot to help me with... XD

I started this week with a day with Elder Cash. He is finishing his mission in like a week, and he was doing everything he could to make the most of every moment here. He taught me the importance of love and charity, and how lucky we are to be able to have relationships with others.

Soon after I exchanged with Elder Brough. He showed me a powerful example of humility, and taught me that through faith we can accomplish miracles. It was inspiring to see his change since the last time I saw him in Sherbrooke.

I finished the week with my good friend Elder Amichia. He taught me to enjoy every moment that we have and how to diligently protect and love the people that we meet with. He is from France as well, so it was great to be able to pass the day totally in French again haha.

The Gospel of Christ is a gospel of people. Appreciate and cherish relationships, because they are all that really matters. I can second the experience of Ammon in saying that if we live like Christ and focus on the people in our lives our joy will be full. Even if we do get so tired from it we can't even think at night haha. Life is simple and life is good.

Some sweet experiences this week:

- I got to run through a peaceful swamp and I saw a grown woman in a fuzzy onesie in the middle of it
- Our car fob doesn't work so every time we get back into the car the alarm goes off and people think that missionaries steal cars...
- There was a funeral for a branch member this week, and we filled the ENTIRE church because so many people wanted to show their love and support
- I ate donkey
- Reminding people about the plan that God has for us is awesome

Love you all, and thanks for your support! I'll tell you if I'm leaving or staying here in Montréal next week!

CANADA Week 47-June 19, 2018

Elder James and I got a nice shower in this crazy storm haha. But it was warmer than the shower chez nous . . . hot water has been non-existent for the last little while.

Salut mon peuple!

I wanted to start with a cute song, because I missed la Fete des Peres!

My daddy is my fav'rite pal,
And I help him ev'ry day.
It's plain to see I want to be
Like him in ev'ry way.
He teaches me that honesty
Is best in all I do.
I'm very glad that he's my dad,
And I know he loves me too.

Haha I know it's a primary song . . . I love you Padre. So many times the little lessons you taught me while cleaning the garage or playing soccer or going to church have been critical in the decisions I have made here in Montreal. You are someone who gives everything he has to those he loves, and I can never thank you enough. And I wrote you a letter, but we haven't had time to send it, so I will get it to you eventually haha.

One of my favorite scriptures reminds me oftentimes that we also have a Heavenly Father who loves more than we can possible imagine. A Father who has created our spirits and has sent us to earth so that we can become like Him. He loves when we take time to speak with Him, and he listens attentively. Just like my Dad. He is someone who wants us to grow and feel joy and He has prepared us to succeed.

His son Jesus Christ said:
"Or what man is there of you, whom if his son ask bread, will he give a stone?
Or if he ask a fish, will he give him a serpent?
If ye then, being evil, know how to give good gifts unto your children, how much more shall your Father which is in heaven give good things to them that ask Him?"

Don't be afraid to pour out your soul and ask Him questions. He is waiting.

I love you all, and thanks for the updates. This week ranged from exquisite joy to the depths of sorrow, and everywhere in between. But we can sustain any challenge with the help and love of our Father. Have a sweet week and smile lots!

CANADA Week 46-June 12, 2018

Exchanges with Elder Lott. I couldn't take him home with us.

Salut la fam et amis!

This week things are starting to come together as I get used to the area and the awesome people here. Elder James and I have even been trying to learn a little bit of Créole haha. Kaman ou yé?

We had zone conference and more exchanges this week, and it is incredible to see the Lord's hand working so clearly here in the Canada Montréal Mission.

I was slow with my emails today, so I don't have a lot of time, but I was reading a talk this week by Ezra Taft Benson, and I thought of some of the recent invitations of our living day prophet, President Russell M Nelson. Ezra Taft Benson said, "Speaking out against immoral or unjust actions has been the burden of prophets and disciples of God from time immemorial. It was for this very reason that many of them were persecuted. Nevertheless, it was their God-given task, as watchmen on the tower to warn the people."

Its comforting to know that we have a watchman today. Standing on the tower and clearly describing the enemies tactics! The question is, Are we listening to his council? Have we acted on what he invited us to do? Are we ready for the attacks of the enemy? Are we actively seeking to align our wills with his, and in turn, Gods?

I invite you all to take time to study and apply his words this week. You will see miracles and receive the promised blessings.

I love you all and appreciate your wise council and bountiful love. Your stories and support have been essential for me and the people we talk with here. Make this week memorable!

CANADA Week 45-June 5, 2018

The Legend himself. Elder Alejo!

Salut da fam et les amis!!

Life is sweet here in Montréal! And sweaty haha. It has been getting up to like 85 degrees and higher these last couple of days, and it is SO humid! I never thought I would be ready for the snow again haha. But I love the changing of the seasons, and summer is beautiful in Montréal.

Elder James and I got to go on exchanges with Elder Brough (from Sherbrooke), and Elder Alejo (my Texan companion from the MTC) so it was pretty awesome. I got to stay here in our area with Elder Alejo, and it was a fun challenge to try and find my way around the area. My fam knows that I am the absolute WORST with directions, so I am sure you can imagine how it went haha. But we had some great learning experiences together, and Elder Alejo can make anyone laugh, so it was an incredible day.

I also have been able to learn a bunch from the "old men" of our apartment. Elder Webb is going home in just a few weeks, and Elder Amichia is just a few steps behind him, so it has been awesome to hear some of their mission experiences. They also like to run in the morning, so life has been fantastic! Elder James has been awesome as well, and he has been helping me a lot with the transition to life here. He has spent pretty much his entire mission in this apartment, so he is an expert haha.

And I just heard about the devotional/message that President Nelson shared, and how sweet is that! Ecoutez (listen to) the voice of the prophet my friends! He is one powerful link to the Lord, and all He wants to do is help us. The Lord oftentimes will ask a lot of us, but he always promises more than we could ever give. He gives us a challenge in the book of Malachi . . . "Prove me now herewith, saith the Lord of hosts, if I will not open you the windows of heaven, and pour you out a blessing, that there shall not be room enough to receive it." (Malachi 3) Test him, and reap the rewards of your faith.

Sorry I don't have much more time, and Elder James made some bomb Haitian food that is waiting for us at the apartment haha. Love you all, and have some fun this week. Be devoted and find purpose in what you do. Make these next 7 days awesome!

Elder Wilson

Parking in Montréal is rough . . . . Yes we got another ticket :(

The man JOHNEL! He tries to go out with the missionaries every single day, and he loves the Lord. He is going on a mission soon, and he is going to be incredible.

We went on a late night rescue mission, because the sisters in our area got lost on a bus . . . So we went late night cruising with the 4 man brothers haha. We gave the sisters the other Elders car.

Our friend Odette made us Haitian food, and I almost died it was so good. Haitian food is magic!

We made some sweet tortilla chips and Elder Webb hooked us up with taco soup.

Our trash can smelt like the bathroom after Haitian food, so Elder James and I wrecked it with any cleaning chemical we could find until it wasn't awful haha. It took us like an hour.
